Hi everyone, it’s Chris Salisbury! The glass is a huge part of padel - learning to use it well makes a massive difference. Here’s a quick tip for every level:
🟢 Beginner: Don’t rush! Let the ball bounce off the glass and come to you. Stay relaxed and take your time on the return.
🔵 Intermediate: Start lobbing after the glass bounce. It’s a great way to reset the point and regain control.
🔴 Advanced: Use the glass to apply pressure—soft shots into corners that bounce off two walls can force mistakes.
Whatever level you're at, remember this: The glass isn’t something to fear—it’s something to master. The more comfortable you are with it, the more the court opens up for you.

Hey all,
I played a tournament today and in the 4th game I got hit big with calf cramp. So it lead me to post about it.
on reflection the biggest components for it was - not enough nutrition and hydration at appropriate times
cramp is generally caused by dehydration and a lack of salts / electrolytes.
Felt a little ropey so skipped breakfast, so lack of enough food in that time frame meant the body wasn’t happy.
what’s everyone’s favourite electrolytes / nutrition strategies for cramp ???
do you plan and prepare for your games and tournaments ?
Be great to get the conversation going
as always
move well
perform better

Enhancing Recovery in Padel: The Padel Physios pro Tip
As a padel specialist physiotherapist, optimizing recovery after the intensity of play is crucial for performance enhancement and injury prevention. Here are key recovery strategies:
**1. Cool Down Thoroughly:**
After matches, allocate time to a structured cool-down routine. Emphasize gentle mobility and low-intensity movements to gradually lower heart rate, reduce muscle stiffness, and enhance flexibility.
**2. Restore Movement:**
Incorporate mobility exercises to maintain joint range and muscle pliability. Techniques such as foam rolling or dynamic stretching can alleviate tension and promote blood flow. These can be done on returning home post game
**3. Hydration:**
Replenish lost fluids by drinking water or electrolyte-rich beverages immediately after playing. Adequate hydration supports muscle function and aids in the removal of metabolic waste.
**4. Nutrition:**
Consume a balanced meal with carbohydrates, proteins, and healthy fats post-match. This facilitates muscle repair and energy restoration.
Effective recovery is vital for maintaining peak performance and prolonging your athletic journey. Implementing these strategies consistently will empower you to play padel at your best.
Stay active, stay healthy.
As always -
Move well, Perform Better

WARM UP :
The Padel Physio Pro Tip ...
A simple thing to support your warm up
LAYERS !! its still cold these early months of the year.
If your body temperature is low you will be stiff and restricted.
Clothing can be a huge component - dress appropriately with layers you can reduce as your temperature rises. it's tough to get moving well in shorts and t shirt shivering.
Layer up with a top layer (tracksuit bottoms and hoodie) - Ps The new Padel Directory hoodies are NEXT LEVEL
Then prep with a good warm up before you get on court, get moving and start to strip down, this can get you going better quicker and reduce the time needed to actually WARM UP.
Look out for my full warm up coming to the PADEL PHYSIO section of the website too.
As always MOVE WELL ... PERFORM BETTER
lets get at it team

When do you think the UK is going to host a major event from Premier Padel or A1? I can't wait to attend to the first one

February top tip ; The Importance of Warm-Ups
A proper warm-up routine enhances blood flow, mobility, and muscle readiness, getting your body and mind prepared to play.
Reducing injury risk and improving your on court performance. The 3 key components of a good warm up include;
Increasing blood flow - think heart rate and body temperature - bike, skip, pogos and calf pumps
Joint motion and mobility - dynamic movements for both lower body and upper body (think calf raises, lunges and arm circles)
Game specific- get your eye in for ball timing and coordination so your routine paired drills focusing on emphasising your shots - getting the body used to the shots gently and timing before letting loose in the match
If you want a thorough example of this check out the warm up video

Padel content has significant increased on social media. As part of a group that plays weekly, I am keen to start filming some matches to help identify ways that we can improve and also to have a bit of fun.
We are already use a phone mount that attaches to the glass from one end of the court. It is useful but limited as the video is static.
A 'point of view' perspective seems the obvious next choice. I am torn between the Insta360 Go and DJI Action 2. Both are small, light and can seemingly be attached in multiple ways.
Does anyone have any experience of filming? If so, would you recommend either of the suggestions above or an alternative?
Thanks in advance!
