LTA Grading vs Playtomic Rating :

If you are new to competitive padel and looking to take part in LTA events, it can be confusing where to start. There are different grades and rankings. Points allocations are different for each grade. But what grade you should enter first?

Does Playtomic ranking have an impact?

Its best to look at LTA gradings and Playtomic as completely different entities. LTA Grades work ‘backwards’. Starting at Grade 6 (lower standard) and working up to a Grade 1 (Pro Standard). Playtomic ranking works in an opposite direction where winning games will see your rating increase.

Below is a simple generic guide for where LTA Padel Tournaments are in the UK right now, time of writing being February 2025:

Grade 6 – Entry into competitive padel tournaments. LTA points you receive will be lower as a result. Guide Playtomic rating is 1.5-3.

Grade 5 and 4 – Standard increases as do the LTA ranking points. Guide Playtomic rating is usually between 2 – 4.5.

Grade 3 – This is the level where competitive amateur players can and will usually play against at least one of the top 100 players in the UK. Guide Playtomic rating is between 3 - 5.5.

Grade 2 & Grade 1 – This is where most of the UK’s top players will compete. You are open to enter however the standard is very high due to LTA point allocation being at its highest and there will be some prize money available at certain events.
